A diverse team of scientists, soldiers and adventurers unite to explore a mythical, uncharted island in the Pacific, as dangerous as it is beautiful. Cut off from everything they know, the team ventures into the domain of the mighty Kong, igniting the ultimate battle between man and nature. As their mission of discovery becomes one of survival, they must fight to escape a primal Eden in which humanity does not belong.

A good Sunday afternoon creature feature. Ray Harryhausen would of been enjoying popcorn to this monster fest but times have moved on and as much as he wanted Vogt-Roberts didn’t capture the fun and excitement of those early 80s movies. At times it was tired and even worse tedious. Kong is no longer king

you can do a lot of things with a Kong movie but I never envisaged a mash up with Apocalypse Now, the only problem is they couldn’t decide which movie won the leading role. The CGI is amazing but once again it was geared up for 3D so looses its impact, add a splash of really bad continuity and even Kong’s massive strength and hands couldn’t push the score past a 6.

This film has been praised, revered and celebrated. Is it just me but I can’t figure out why. Yeah the performances are OK and yeah I suppose the topic is relevant but my oh my I spent at least £10 on red bull to stay awake. I had no empathy for the characters and really didn’t want to follow them to the end of their journey.  I have heard that a poignant silence can speak a thousand words. The gaps in monologues in this movie just frustrated me though, I found myself filling them with expletives. I’m sorry oscar but I think you’re on the wrong shelf

A superhero movie wrapped in a grounded movie cape.  Logan exposes a reality of pain, desperation and searching within the comic led genre.  Both believability and fantasy mix in a seriously watchable two hours. I was immersed in the opportunity to take the dark back alley away from the silvery shiny world of spandex suits and cheesy one liners and scrape the grime off the window to reveal a tormented wolverine and a geriatric xavier. The chemistry between these two characters is explosive and is complementedby fantastic writing. But this is no kitchen sink drama, it still packs great set pieces and buckets of gore. The balance has been accomplished extremely well.  Just one complaint, please lose Richard E Grants number

This film is battling Deadpool for best marvel film of all time, from start to finish I was hooked. Director  James Mangold has peeled off the glossy super hero veneer and has left the dark troubled marvel world exposed.  it’s hard to believe that Jackman and Stewart have been playing these characters for 17 years, But it shows, they are so believable, the chemistry between the three generations of actors is electric, you would think newcomer Keen who pulls no punches (literally) has been working with for the same 17 years.

An enjoyable 60’s conspiracy romp that confidently took me back to the shady shananigans of the trilby wearing C.I.A

The birth of the burger kept me glued to the screen from beginning to end. With a tour de force performance from Michael Keaton that was the perfect topping.  Great writing. Great acting and an insight that will affect how you look at the golden arches for ever more.

Split

Three girls are kidnapped by a man with a diagnosed 23 distinct personalities, they must try to escape before the apparent emergence of a frightful new 24th.

G 6

Its not often that an actor gets a script to play 23 characters in one film and though he doesn’t play all of them James McAvoy plays each one excellently. If you take into account that he only had a few months to learn the several characters he played this is an extraordinary feat.

Been a while since I never closed my mouth through a whole movie. Very watchable and kept a consistent pace. And loved the fan surprise.
