It’s hard to believe that someone has financed 8 of these movies spanning 16 years, with its roots in drifting and underground street racing to Triple X James Bond spy shit the visuals are mind bending the dialog is painful most of the acting is wooden, can’t help but wonder are the actors just doing it for the money or is there something to be said for the Billion dollar franchise… yes the films have taken over 3 Billion dollars.

Man Down

Shia LaBeouf’s latest film, Man Down, took in just £7 at the UK box office in its opening weekend.

Man Down is a war movie directed by Dito Montiel. As well as LaBeouf, it also stars Kate Mara, Gary Oldman, Jai Courtney and Jose Pablo Cantillo. LaBeouf plays a US marine suffering from PTSD after fighting in Afghanistan.

With just one cinema showing the film in the UK (the Reel Cinema in Burnley), ComScore reports that Man Down had a total weekend gross of £7. Just one ticket.

Don’t go into this film looking to see a live action version of the original 1995 anime film, I would say this is a new version based on the original, times have changed since its conception 22 years ago cyperpunk was a flourishing genre but Anime and Manga was a niche market back then. Western Culture has embraced Eastern tastes and Technology has a whole has moved on leaps and bounds so its important the film changes with the time, the subtle differences between the two films  complement each other. A modern day classic.

This film started off so well but fell short in the last quarter pity, great acting throughout though.
